Cure of Demoniac / Curación del Endemoniado
“The man with an unclean spirit cried out, what have you to do with us Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are, the Holy One of God!” these are the words of a man possessed with unclean spirit. Possession of unclean spirits in the time of Jesus is common. It's a form of sickness. Evil spirits are known to live in human bodies and even to animals. But Jesus has the power over these spirits. But what struck me is, even evil spirits knew who Jesus is, the Holy One of God, so they obeyed Jesus. So we obey Jesus?
In our Christian life, do we truly believe that Jesus is the Holy One of God? What is attitude about Jesus? Do we believe in Jesus, the Eucharist? Does our life have something to do with what we believed about Jesus? Faith for me is not about what we believed but rather its about doing Something with what we believed. Maybe its worth asking ourselves, “is our life a reflection of what we truly believed?” second Vatican Council reminds us all: “Religion does not consist in act of worship alone but should be lived in a just, moral and charitable conduct”. Ultimately, God will judge us not by how many times we come to church but by how many times we put our faith into actions. God bless our every action. Amen!
"El hombre que tenía un espíritu inmundo gritó: ¿Qué tienes que ver con nosotros, Jesús de Nazaret? ¿Has venido a destruirnos? Yo sé quién eres, ¡el Santo de Dios!" Estas son las palabras de un hombre poseído por un espíritu inmundo. La posesión de espíritus inmundos en tiempos de Jesús es común. Es una forma de enfermedad. Se sabe que los espíritus malignos viven en cuerpos humanos e incluso en animales. Pero Jesús tiene el poder sobre estos espíritus. Pero lo que me impresionó es que incluso los espíritus malignos sabían quién es Jesús, el Santo de Dios, así que obedecieron a Jesús.
Entonces, ¿obedecemos a Jesús? En nuestra vida cristiana, ¿creemos de verdad que Jesús es el Santo de Dios? ¿Cuál es nuestra actitud respecto a Jesús? ¿Creemos en Jesús, la Eucaristía? ¿Tiene nuestra vida algo que ver con lo que hemos creído sobre Jesús? Para mí, la fe no consiste en lo que creemos, sino en hacer algo con lo que creemos. El Concilio Vaticano II nos recuerda a todos: "La religión no consiste sólo en actos de culto, sino que debe vivirse en una conducta justa, moral y caritativa". En última instancia, Dios no nos juzgará por cuántas veces vayamos a la iglesia, sino por cuántas veces pongamos nuestra fe en actos. Que Dios bendiga cada una de nuestras acciones. Amén.
