Cleansing of the Leper / La Curación del Leproso
Jesus healing the leper reminds us to pray for our sick brothers and sisters. St. John Paul II designated Feb. 11 as World Day of the Sick, a special time of prayer for healing and offering one's suffering to God. Also to remind us to see in our sick brothers and sisters the image of Jesus who died for us. This Sunday also, we pray for our married couples as the church celebrates World Marriage Day. I thank all couples of St. George Parish for being part of the Body of Christ, the church. The healing of the leper reminds us that no matter how worst sickness can be, nothing is impossible with God. There is no sickness so bad that God cannot heal it. And no matter how separated we are from the society like the lepers during Jesus time, we are always welcome in his kingdom. God wants us all to be in his Kingdom. The leper in our Gospel showed us one important lesson, “Thy will be done”. He humbly came to Jesus and asked, “if you will it, make me clean”. He didn't demand right away to be healed but rather he kneels down in humility. Then Jesus said, I do will it, be made clean! When we pray, always consider 3 things: in God's grace, in God's time and in God's will. Amen!
Jesús curando al leproso nos recuerda que debemos rezar por nuestros hermanos enfermos. San Juan Pablo II designó el 11 de febrero como Jornada Mundial del enfermo, un momento especial de oración para sanar y ofrecer a Dios el propio sufrimiento. También para recordarnos que debemos ver en nuestros hermanos y hermanas enfermos la imagen de Jesús, que murió por nosotros. También este domingo rezamos por los matrimonios, ya que la Iglesia celebra el Día Mundial del Matrimonio. Doy las gracias a todas las parejas de la parroquia de San Jorge por formar parte del Cuerpo de Cristo, la Iglesia. La curación del leproso nos recuerda que, por muy grave que sea la enfermedad, nada es imposible para Dios. No hay enfermedad tan grave que Dios no pueda curar. Y por muy separados que estemos de la sociedad, como los leprosos en tiempos de Jesús, siempre seremos bienvenidos a su reino. Dios quiere que todos estemos en su Reino. El leproso de nuestro Evangelio nos enseñó una lección importante: "Hágase tu voluntad". Se acercó humildemente a Jesús y le pidió: "Si quieres, límpiame". No exigió inmediatamente ser curado, sino que se arrodilló con humildad. Entonces Jesús le dijo: "Quiero, queda limpio". Cuando oramos, siempre consideremos 3 cosas: en la gracia de Dios, en el tiempo de Dios y en la voluntad de Dios. Amén.
