Happy Transfiguration Sunday! Transfiguration is a gospel of change. Change is a constant thing in this world. A philosopher said, “The only thing permanent in this world is change”. Everything and everyone changed: climate, season, nature, time, and people, even cars need oil change. In todays generation, concern for physical or bodily change is very common. The cosmetics health and nutrition industries have been aggressive in responding to people’s call for products that make us slimmer, younger, sexier, whiter and more beautiful. Our generation of technology also addressed this frantic hunger for change like cellphones, cameras and videos. There’s an app that in one click all warts, blackheads, blemishes, even extra pounds disappear and instantly you’ll look surprisingly beautiful. We normally try to look better or beautiful. We normally try to look better or beautiful before others. Did we try to look beautiful before God? I believe God is more interested not on how we loo outside but inside, in our moral spiritual looks than physical looks. God judges us not by our face but by our hearts. Its not how beautiful our face is that matters to God but how beautiful our heart is. For it is only in the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential or important sometimes is invisible to the eye. Real beauty is not only in the eye of the beholder, its in the HEART of the beholder. Amen!
¡Feliz domingo de la transfiguración! La transfiguración es un evangelio de cambio. El cambio es algo constante en este mundo. Un filósofo dijo: "Lo único permanente en este mundo es el cambio". Todo y todos cambian: el clima, la estación, la naturaleza, el tiempo y las personas, incluso los coches necesitan un cambio de aceite. En la generación actual, la preocupación por el cambio físico o corporal es muy común. Las industrias de cosméticos, salud y nutrición han respondido con agresividad a la demanda de productos que nos hagan más delgados, jóvenes, atractivos, blancos y bellos. Nuestra generación tecnológica también se ha ocupado de esta frenética ansia de cambio, como los teléfonos móviles, las cámaras y los vídeos. Hay una aplicación que con un solo clic hace desaparecer todas las verrugas, puntos negros, manchas e incluso los kilos de más, y al instante te ves sorprendentemente guapo/a. Normalmente intentamos vernos mejor o más guapos. Intentamos parecer mejores o bellos ante los demás. ¿Intentamos parecer bellos ante Dios? Creo que Dios esta mas interesado no en como nos vemos por fuera sino por dentro, en nuestro aspecto moral espiritual que en el aspecto físico. Dios no nos juzga por nuestra cara sino por nuestros corazones. No es la belleza de nuestro rostro lo que le importa a Dios, sino la belleza de nuestro corazón. Porque sólo en el corazón se puede ver bien, lo que es esencial o importante a veces es invisible a los ojos. La verdadera belleza no esta solo en el ojo del que mira, esta en el CORAZON del que mira. Amén.
