Thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time / Trigésimo Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario

First I want to thank those who shared their sympathy, support and prayers to my family during this moment of pain and loss as we brought our brother to his final resting place. Thank you so much on behalf of my family. The parable in the gospel about the Pharisee and tax collector teaches us not only to give from the heart but also to pray from the heart and be humble. Humility is an important virtue and faith. Jesus said, “for everyone who exalts himself will be exalted”. Jesus showed us not only how to pray but also to pray with humility.. Prayer is not telling God how good we are but telling God how good he is. But the best prayer is telling God how truly sorry we are for our sins. Humility is an act of holiness. Kneeling is an act of humility before God. We don't need to tell God our achievements, degrees, profession, our position, our collectors items, our righteousness because God knows best. All these things don't matter in heaven. We cant bring our diploma or degrees or position in heaven when we die but the holiness we lived. What matters is our humility before God and before others. Amen!

Primero, quiero agradecer a quienes compartieron su compasión, apoyo y oraciones con mi familia durante este momento de dolor y pérdida mientras llevábamos a nuestro hermano a su lugar de descanso final. Muchas gracias en nombre de mi familia. La parábola del Evangelio sobre el fariseo y el publicano nos enseña no solo a dar con el corazón, sino también a orar con el corazón y ser humildes. La humildad es una virtud importante en la fe. Jesús dijo: “Porque todo el que se enaltece será enaltecido”. Jesús nos mostró no solo cómo orar, sino también a orar con humildad. Orar no es decirle a Dios lo buenos que somos, sino decirle lo bueno que es él. Pero la mejor oración es decirle a Dios cuánto lamentamos nuestros pecados. La humildad es un acto de santidad. Arrodillarnos es un acto de humildad ante Dios. No necesitamos contarle a Dios nuestros logros, títulos, profesión, posición, objetos de colección, nuestra rectitud, porque Dios sabe más. Todas estas cosas no importan en el cielo. No podemos llevarnos nuestro diploma, títulos ni nuestra posición en el cielo al morir, sino la santidad que vivimos. Lo que importa es nuestra humildad ante Dios y ante los demás. ¡Amén!
