Third Sunday of Advent / 3er Domingo de Adviento
Happy “Gaudete” Sunday! Gaudete means rejoice! We need to rejoice and be happy because it’s almost Christmas, a season of love, joy, peace, unity, a season to remind us that God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son Jesus born in the manger for us. It’s a season to share our joys or blessings to others and to be witnesses of our faith just like St. John the Baptist. To be Jesus’ forerunner is to be a witness of Jesus. St. John the Baptist came to testify to the light, Jesus our Lord, so that all might believe through him. He proclaimed, he made straight the way of the Lord, he baptized and he became a witness to Jesus by his life. His voice, baptism and his ministry proclaimed how he became a witness to Jesus by his life. Our world needs living witnesses of Jesus, to be living examples of love and faith to others. The society we belong needs people who are living inspirations of faith to others, who are apostles of mercy to those in need of mercy. Maybe our own families need living examples of faith that make a difference to emulate the kind of faith we lived. Let us continue to be joyful witnesses of faith to those people around us by our good examples, to be living inspirations to them. Let us aspire to inspire others before we expire. ¡Feliz domingo “Gaudete”! ¡Gaudete significa regocijarse! Necesitamos regocijarnos y ser felices porque ya casi es Navidad, una temporada de amor, alegría, paz, unidad, una temporada para recordarnos que tanto amó Dios al mundo que dió a su Hijo unigénito, Jesús, nacido en el pesebre por nosotros. Es una temporada para compartir nuestras alegrías o bendiciones con los demás y ser testigos de nuestra fe como San Juan Bautista. Ser precursor de Jesús es ser testigo de Jesús. San Juan Bautista vino a dar testimonio de la luz, Jesús nuestro Señor, para que todos creyeran por él. Proclamó, enderezó el camino del Señor, bautizó y se hizo testigo de Jesús con su vida. Su voz, su bautismo y su ministerio proclamaron cómo se convirtió en testigo de Jesús con su vida. Nuestro mundo necesita testigos vivos de Jesús, que sean ejemplos vivos de amor y fe para los demás. La sociedad a la que pertenecemos necesita personas que sean inspiraciones vivas de fe para los demás, que sean ápostoles de la misericordia para los necesitados de misericordia. Quizás nuestras propias familias necesiten ejemplos vivos de fe que marquen la diferencia para emular el tipo de fe que vivimos. Sigamos siendo testigos gozosos de fe para quienes nos rodean con nuestro buen ejemplo, para ser inspiración viva para ellos. Aspiremos a inspirar a otros antes de expirar. ¡Los mantengo a todos en mis oraciones! ¡Dios los bendiga!
