Give To God What Belongs To God / Dar A Dios Lo Que Es De Dios
“Pay to Caesar what belongs to Caesar and to God what belongs to God”. Jesus clearly answers the Pharisees who wanted to test him with this message. Jesus also reminds us of the proper disposition about our faith, that is to give God what belongs to God. Paying taxes is an old practice way back in the Old Testament times and until now especially here in the U.S. its something we are consistently doing. Every single year we file taxes to the IRS. What about our duty to God? One of the good things we don’t do in the Catholic church is give 15% of our income like other denominations do. God I believe doesn't want to force us with an amount of money we can give although its proper, but rather God wants us to give God what belongs to him like giving glory, praise, adoration, thanksgiving and to love him with all our hearts, mind and spirit. Exactly why St. James said, faith without good works is dead. We give God our “faith in action”. That’s what belongs to God. The blessings we share to the church, the ministry we do and the services we offer, the spiritual or corporal works of mercy are things we can give that belong to God. Keep doing what belongs to God, God won’t stop blessing! Amen!
“Paga al César lo que es de César y a Dios lo que es de Dios”. Jesús responde claramente con este mensaje a los fariseos que querían ponerlo a prueba. Jesús también nos recuerda la disposición adecuada acerca de nuestra fe, es decir, darle a Dios lo que es de Dios. Pagar impuestos es una práctica antigua que se remonta a los tiempos del Antiguo Testamento y hasta ahora, especialmente aquí en los EE. UU., es algo que hacemos constantemente. Cada año presentamos impuestos al IRS. ¿Qué pasa con nuestro deber con Dios? Una de las cosas buenas que no hacemos en la iglesia católica es dar el 15% de nuestros ingresos como lo hacen otras denominaciones. Creo que Dios no quiere obligarnos con una cantidad de dinero que podemos dar aunque sea apropiado, sino que Dios quiere que le demos a Dios lo que le corresponde como darle gloria, alabanza, adoración, acción de gracias y amarlo con todo nuestro corazón, mente y espíritu. Exactamente por eso que Santiago dijo: la fe sin buenas obras está muerta. Le damos a Dios nuestra “fe en acción”. Eso es lo que le pertenece a Dios. Las bendiciones que compartimos con la iglesia, el ministerio que hacemos y los servicios que ofrecemos, las obras de misericordia espirituales o corporales son cosas que podemos dar y que pertenecen a Dios. Sigan haciendo lo que es de Dios, ¡Dios no dejará de bendecir! ¡Amén!
