Fire of Love / Fuego de Amore
A Blesssed Sunday! I want to first extend my heartfelt gratitude for your generosity to our parish and congratulations to those who pledge for our “Called and Sent” program. Our parish reaches more than 100% of our goal. God bless your generous hearts. In today’s gospel Jesus said “I have come to bring fire upon the earth”. Jesus didn't mean burning the earth with fire from heaven. Fire is also symbolic of the Holy Spirit or his presence like the burning Bush or the burning love of God. Jesus didn't mean division among family members but rather division of family values where some children don't believe in God because of worldly things around them. In today’s generation obviously there are people who believed in the power of money more than God. How many children nowadays don't go to church anymore? Jesus wants the fire of unity and values among family especially in matters of faith. Let us keep praying and working that God’s fire of love, mercy, hope and peace be burning inside our homes and hearts. Amen!
¡Un domingo bendecido! Quiero expresar mi más sincero agradecimiento por su generosidad hacia nuestra parroquia y felicitar a quienes se comprometen con nuestro programa “Llamados y Enviados”. Nuestra parroquia alcanza más del 100% de nuestra meta. Que Dios bendiga sus generosos corazones. En el evangelio de hoy, Jesús dijo: “He venido a traer fuego a la tierra”. Jesús no se refería a quemar la tierra con fuego del cielo. El fuego también simboliza al Espíritu Santo o su presencia, como la zarza ardiente o el amor ardiente de Dios. Jesús no se refería a la división entre los miembros de la familia, sino a la división de los valores familiares, donde algunos hijos no creen en Dios debido a las cosas mundanas que los rodean. En la generación actual, obviamente, hay personas que creen en el poder del dinero más que en Dios. ¿Cuántos niños hoy en día ya no van a la iglesia? Jesús desea el fuego de la unidad y los valores en la familia, especialmente en materia de fe. Sigamos orando y trabajando para que el fuego de amor, misericordia, esperanza y paz de Dios arda en nuestros hogares y corazones. ¡Amén!
