23rd Sunday of Ordinary Time / XXIII Domingo del tiempo ordinario

Jesus teaches us a few things: First, the value of what we called in the seminary” Fraternal Correction” which required not revenge but forgiveness. He said, “if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone…” Jesus simply tells his disciples that if someone sins against you, talk to him without condemnation, don’t take revenge but most of all learn to forgive. Something very hard for most of us. There is a saying “To err is human but to forgive is divine”. Seems hard but its possible especially when done out of love as St. Paul says “Love does not evil to the neighbor, hence is the fulfillment of the law”/ second, Jesus teaches us the value of the community gathered together in prayer, saying, “Where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them”. Church is a community in prayer. We to serve, to praise and to glorify his name as people of God, Body of Christ and Temple of the Holy Spirit. Let us always be one in prayer thanking God for every blessing we receive everyday. Amen!

Jesús nos enseña algunas cosas: En primer lugar, el valor de lo que en el seminario llamábamos "la corrección fraterna", que no exigía venganza sino perdón. Dijo: "Si tu hermano peca contra ti, ve y dile su falta entre tú y él solos...". Jesús simplemente dice a sus discípulos que si alguien peca contra ti, habla con él sin condenarle, no te vengues pero sobre todo aprende a perdonar. Algo muy difícil para la mayoría de nosotros. Hay un dicho que dice: "Errar es humano, pero perdonar es divino". Parece difícil, pero es posible, especialmente cuando se hace por amor, como dice San Pablo: "El amor no hace mal al prójimo, de ahí el cumplimiento de la ley"/ En segundo lugar, Jesús nos enseña el valor de la comunidad reunida en oración, diciendo: "Donde dos o tres están reunidos en mi nombre, allí estoy yo en medio de ellos". La Iglesia es una comunidad en oración. Nosotros para servir, alabar y glorificar su nombre como pueblo de Dios, Cuerpo de Cristo y Templo del Espíritu Santo. Seamos siempre uno en la oración dando gracias a Dios por cada bendición que recibimos cada día. Amén.
